Saturday, May 16^th, 2015 - Sha Tin Racecourse, Joao Moreira (known as the magic man) broke the single-season winners record for a jockey in Hong Kong. The record was formerly held by Douglas Whyte with 114 wins in a race season.

The record came quickly for Joao as he notched win 115 in race #2 aboard Penang Hall. He didn’t simply quit there, winning 3 more races by days end, putting his current tally at 118.

1st a champion jockey in Brazil, then a multiple champion jockey in Singapore, now as well a champion jockey and record breaker in Hong Kong.

Joao is a delight to watch. There are not enough superlatives to describe this amazingly talented rider. Aptly called "the magic man", he simply does things that other jockeys cannot.

He just puts horses in the right position to win races, at times humbling his competition. Bad draws normally prevent most jockeys from winning races, however Joao appears immune. Routinely getting horses to win races from wide barrier draws. This is the mark of a true champion, doing what others cannot.

Watching this man ride races is a treat, as a talent like this is a rare find. Not only has he broken the single season winners record, if healthy, is on pace to shatter the record.

It is no wonder he is a clear fan favorite in Hong Kong. Congratulations Joao Moreira.
