Sew Eurodrive Australasian Trotting Championship Final, Tabcorp, Saturday

One of the biggest trotting races of the harness racing season takes place this weekend at Tabcorp. It’s the £150, 000 Sew Eurodrive Australasian Trotting Championship Final and it is the latest leg of the Barastoc Trotters Grand Circuit Series.

There is plenty of pace on the first line here and the two who stand out in the harness racing odds are I Can Doosit and Let Me Thru. Mark Purdon’s charge, I Can Doosit, is two wins from three attempts in Australia so far but what is worrying is that his disappointing defeat came at this track. However, that was his debut effort in this country and may be able to be forgiven following vast improvement lately. His times must be upped though!

Let Me Thru, who represents Chris Lang, comes here in pursuit of a tremendous four timer. The trainer has two runners on this first line but there is no doubt as to who is the first string. He was a winner of a $50, 000 affair here last time out and that sort of form from what is a good draw will see him go very close.

Kerryn Manning saddles Danny Cash, who from the second line probably has it to do, but is a very solid performer who never runs badly. He could be a fast finisher providing they go at a good early pace and this horse, who rarely makes mistakes, could well get involved at juicy prices for his top driver/trainer.

Chris Lang has a busy time in the preliminaries here as his runner on the second line is his third all told. The individual in question is Miss Warbucks, who must be given a good chance as she seems to still be improving. She is winner of three of her seven career starts and contests top company for the first time. However, rule her out at your peril; she represents EW value.

Another wide-open race and for a trot this is as competitive as it gets. It seems quite clear that Chris Lang is keen to land this one and, in a difficult contest, we’ll side with Let Me Thru to provide him with the success.
