| Dundeel sets his Sights on
	  Australian Derby |
| 4/4/13 -
		Australia could well
have a horse to surpass the achievements of last season’s leading
European three-year-old, Camelot, if the performance of the Murray
		Baker-trained It’s A Dundeel in the Group 1 M J Bale Rosehill Guineas,
the second leg of the Triple Crown, is anything to go by. Not that such an accolade would
apparently surprise the four-year-old’s many home supporters, who sent
off the son of High Chaparral the hot favourite for the 10 furlong
contest and never had a moment’s worries of landing the 30/100 odds as
James McDonald’s mount taught a lesson to his rivals in what is normally
a hard-fought top-flight affair. McDonald bided his time at the
back of the eight-strong field until giving his mount his head as they
left the back straight. Reacting instantly to the signal, It’s A Dundeel
powered around the outside to move from last to first with the minimum
of fuss before striding away without ever being asked a serious
question, beating Sacred Falls by six-and-three-quarter-lengths and
instantly inviting the distinct possibility of landing the Triple Crown. A Group 1 winner on only his
second career outing in October when beating Proisir by a head to land
the Chandon Spring Champion Stakes, Baker’s star was a beaten favourite
on his next two starts in top company before the application of
first-time blinkers at Warwick Farm saw him land the Royal Randwick
Guineas last month - the first leg of the Triple Crown - Proisir once
again losing out in a tight finish. The prospect of It’s A Dundeel
writing his name in the history books in the Australian Derby at
Randwick later this month is sure to attract a tremendous crowd to the
Sydney track, all eager to see Australia’s latest sensation keep racing
firmly in the sporting headlines for all the right reasons. Don’t forget about the big race
at Aintree; take advantage of the best
