Gamilati looking good for the 1000 Guineas |
The Godolphin-owned Gamilati has been shortened for the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket following her impressive performance to land the UAE equivalent of the race at Meydan.
Although she was only up against five rivals, Gamilati produced an impressive turn of foot to move from last to first to finish ahead of stablemate Pimpernel and Alsindi on the all-weather track in Dubai.
Mohmood Al Zarooni's three-year old went off as 1/2 favourite in the betting, that was after she won the UAE 1000 Guineas Trial on January 6, giving her the best form of the fillies going into the contest.
If Gamilati does run at Newmarket in May, she is likely to line up against the ante-post favourite Maybe. The Aiden O'Brien trained three-year old filly is unbeaten in five starts and was the winner of the Group One Moyglare Stud Stake at the Curragh back in August.
O'Brien himself is hoping for success at the carnival in Meydan this year. He has entered So You Think in the Dubai World Cup which will be run at the end of March. Last season's Coral-Eclipse winner had a busy schedule in 2011 in which he ran in the British Champions Stakes at Ascot, the Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe in France and the Breeders' Cup Classic at Churchill Downs, all in the space of two months at the back of last season.
So You Think has been priced up as the ante-post favourite for the richest race in the world that is run over 1m2f. Challengers will be in the form of Japanese superstar Smart Falcon, Goodwood Stakes winner Game On Dude and last year's Kentucky Derby victor Animal Kingdom. sha-tin.com - Click Here For List Of Articles
