Respect Invaders In The International Races Year after year they come from near and far and wide. Horses and jockeys from all over the globe will once again head to Hong Kong for this weekends International races. This without a doubt makes Hong Kong the site of one of the most International gatherings of Horse Racing talent the world over. Truly rivaling such events as the Breeders Cup in North America. Over the past few years these invaders have had tremendous success in the International races. Japanese horses have been highly impressive in many of the International events including wins last year by Stay Gold in the Vase, Agnes Digital in the Hong Kong Cup and Eishin Preston in last years Mile Event. Australian's have been been equally successful the past few seasons taking big races with back to back wins in the Sprint with Falvelon and D. Oliver. The Americans have sent fewer horses to Hong Kong than most but when they do send a runner they have a high place rate and usually at a decent price. The Americans are once again represented this year in the Sprint with Texas Glitter and in the Hong Kong Cup with Sarafan and champion grass rider C. Nakatani. Don't forget about Godolphin and Frankie Dettori as this team can be a factor in any International Event. With F. Dettori being able to be very selective about his mounts in the big races. And who could forget the French and their former superstar Jim And Tonic who was winning here with consummate ease just a few seasons ago. Most of all the International races in Hong Kong are truly that "International". Bringing together some of the most exciting Horse Racing talent from around the globe into Hong Kong this weekend. We can be assured that we will once again be in store for some superb racing this weekend. by Kerry Zangara |
